Queen Contest

Entries must be received by July 1st, 2008
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
- Contestant must be female and a resident of the state of Missouri for not fewer that 6 months immediately proceeding July 15th 2008
- Contestant must be a Boone County Resident or attend school in Boone County at least 6 months prior to the competition.
- Contestant cannot be (or ever have been) married, pregnant, or have any children.
- Contestant must be between the ages of 17 and 22 as of September 1st 2008.
- The Boone County Fair Queen will relinquish her title if she enters into a marriage contact or becomes pregnant or if she chooses to cohabitate with a male in lieu of a marriage contract.
- Contestants must have a speech on an agriculturally related topic or a talent for judging. Time limit is 3 (three minutes). Contestants must designate on their entry form of they are presenting a speech or a talent.
- For purpose of scoring all decisions will be left up to the panel of independent judges, in event of a tie in points the contestant with the most points in the interview section of the competition will be placed first.
- Conduct deemed improper and detrimental to the Boone County Fair or a contestant will be reason for disqualification and dismissal by the contest chairman.
- If contestant has already held the title of Boone County Fair Queen she will be ineligible to participate in future Boone County Fair Queen Competitions.
- Contestants should have no visible tattoo or body piercing.
OBLIGATIONS:
- If crowned queen this year you will be expected to ride in the parade in 2009 for the opening of the fair along with 2009’s contestants.
- All contestants that are entering in 2008 will be expected to ride in the fair parade on Saturday morning July 19th 2008.
- All contestants will also be expected to attend a mandatory luncheon following the parade (this is where the interviews with the judges will take place) and attend a mandatory rehearsal for Monday evening’s competition that afternoon at the fair grounds on Saturday July 19th 2008.
- The queen and her court (1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th runner –up) will attend the Boone County Fair Ham Breakfast on Saturday July 26th 2008. ** This is an early morning event**
- The queen and her court will be presented at the Boone County Fair Society Horse Show at different times the week of the fair.
- The queen and her court will expected to be present each evening at the fair to help promote next years competition and to be announced at the different venues that are taking place at the fair.
- If possible it would be appreciated if the queen and her court could make an effort to be at the fair at some of the shows during the day to help hand out ribbons to the different exhibitors.
- Miss Boone County Fair Queen may compete at the Missouri State Fair Queen Contest in Sedalia in August during the Missouri State Fair.
- Miss Boone County Fair Queen and her court will be expected to make appearances throughout the year to help promote 2009’s competition.
A COMPLETED ENTRY WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Name of sponsor and how the sponsor would like to be listed in the competition program. Sponsor must be a business or organization. Please try to include a business card or logo from your sponsor.
- $100.00(non-refundable) entry fee (make checks payable to the Boone County Fair)
- Official entry form and contestant information form (filled out completely and signed)
- We will contact you as soon as your application is received to get a current picture to use in all promotional items before and during the Boone County Fair.
